Summer Program to Enhance Language and Literacy
The ASU Speech and Hearing Sciences is offering a Summer Program to Enhance
Language and Literacy (SPELL) to support students with language and literacy
difficulties. At SPELL, students will engage in fun and interactive activities to
build language skills using fiction and nonfiction texts.
Who should come
Children who have completed second grade (rising 3rd graders). Children with
speech, language, and social communication goals are welcome! Individualized
goals will be addressed through one-on-one and small group activities.
What to expect
Literacy-enhancing activities include readers’ theater, hands-on STEM projects to
support reading decoding, fluency & comprehension, spelling, phonological
awareness and more! Techniques to reduce stress related to reading and
writing will help your child build literacy skills with confidence.
