Among Friends: Stuttering Group for Kids 6-12

Young kids sitting on the floor talking with teacher

Among Friends is a conversation-focused group with interactive speech sessions for children ages 6-12 who stutter. The research-based intervention program is full of activities to increase children’s understanding of how speech is produced and to build confidence in communication. Children will practice fluency strategies with graduate students studying speech-language pathology under the supervision of a certified speech-language pathologist. These fluency exercises will add to children’s toolkit of speech strategies. Groups are divided according to ages and goals. The 10 sessions will aid children in speaking with relaxed confidence.

Parents and families are encouraged to join portions of the sessions for information about speech fluency and strategy practice.
